""Copper construction, thin fin design, smaller sized (less material), and a lower speed fan all make for a good performing, non deafening, inexpensive cooling solution. The looks of all that shine are pretty hip for you windowed case peeps out there. Overall, the CCK-6027 does exactly what it is designed for, which is to do good, look good, and not put you in the poor house."

"...if you suspect other people is using your pc without your permission (inside your family or in the office) you can control their actions (to know if they use your internet accounts, if they modify your own files and so on..) without using a secret cam or paying an investigator, but just by installing STARR and then, as they won't know that, all their moves will be stored and you will be able to control these by checking the log file."

"Case mods are once again the subject here at the Club. This time we received a sweet Cold Cathode Light Kit from the good people over at The Card Cooler. Light modifications are one of the easiest mods you can do. You can use the lights as ground effects under your case or to add that special touch to the interior for that kick ass window mod you just installed."
.
"The Dr. Thermal on the other hand was audible, but by no means came off sounding like a Hoover. The noise factor on the Dr. Thermal got addressed by fattening up the sink to be 70mm square, increasing the surface area for the fins and the ability to mount a larger fan."
.
I received this on the weekend from Dean, over at , and I think it's worth passing along to you.
"I just got this from Todd, the honcho from the . This is a very legit way to get help (in the way of funds) to those in need and yourself a kick ass cooler at the same time. and have teamed up to help with WTC and Pentagon disaster. All proceeds of from the purchase of the new Volcano 6Cu will be donated to the Red Cross. Our goal is to sell 1000 units by September 23rd and deliver $20,000 to the Red Cross!"
And to clarify a question before it gets asked. When they say ALL proceeds they mean ALL. 1000 units at $20 each = $20,000. This is a no profit completely humanitarian gesture."
"This cooler has been much talked about since its appearance on the overclocking scene not too long ago for its super high performance. Its array of slim and tall copper fins are the secret to its performance. As a wholly copper cooler, it comes with no fan at all. Actually, Thermalright sells them without any fan, so as to allow the end user to choose which fan to use with it. Some resellers sell them with fans, more often than not, the Delta."
.
"Just like it's bigger brother, the -6027 uses a solid copper base and the thin copper fin design. The outer case of the HSF serves to direct air and supplies the mounting points for the 60mm fan. The outer case of the HSF is actually made from Aluminum, but coated copper."
just posted the latest news about ABIT's motherboard roadmaps plus some specifications of the eight upcoming motherboards!

September 11th, 2001 will go down in history as a dark day for humanity. With so much senseless death and destruction, our foundation, as a species, has been shaken to the very depths of our being. It is in these trying times when a little light, no matter how small, gives us hope that there is still decency in the World. One of LITTLEWHITEDOG's forum members, Perrito_Blanco, was in Tower #1 of the World Trade Center when all hell broke loose. This is a story of solidarity and absolute strength of spirit; this is his story.
"Then I smelled smoke. This changed things. We had to get out. I got out my handkerchief and covered my nose and mouth. Then I remembered that it was better to wet it so I dipped it in my milk. I suggested to the others to do the same. We pried open the doors again and laid down the window-washer's pole to keep the door open. It was the perfect size. Now we started kicking the hell out of the wall in front of us. It was no use. It was sheetrock, a.k.a. plasterboard or drywall, in 2 feet wide sections with a steel frame around it. It hardly moved. We would have to dig through it...."

"Ok, so everyones heard of the famous Coolermaster cases and CPU coolers but may not be so familiar with their DCD-4002 CoolDriveTM, this is their second generation cooldrive which aims to incorporate some of the end users feedback from their last sortie into this particular market with the DCD-4001."

"The application of thermal paste is usually one of the last steps in the building of a new PC. Being so far down on the list of things to do, it may just slip your mind to acquire some high quality paste. You must avoid, as convenient as it may be, to just settle with the mediocre white goop that accompanies most Heat-Sink/Fan units in the box as the Pentium-4 and AMD Thunderbird need as much help as they can get when it comes to thermal transfer. This is mainly do to the little surface area in which to pull heat from and the simple fact that these processors run HOT. Using a thermal paste that is subject to break down and drying up will only lead to an inevitable disaster. You owe it to yourself and your processor to use the best thermal paste that money can buy."
The Overclocker Cafe' is having another drawing. This time they got a hold of an AMD 1.0GHz Duron (Morgan) processor. Folks may enter daily until Sunday, September 23rd. The direct link to their contest page is:
"We all have seen fan guards laser cut into fancy designs but most are just made from regular ugly sheet metal. The design is fancy, but the materials are not. ZXMods is changing that. They have come up with their own fan guards that have really caught my attention. These fan guards are no plain old guards, these babies come in cool colors!"

"Chai recently tested their top Dragon Orb model - the Dragon Orb 3 which sports a copper core and a 7000 rpm fan! Wow! So, does Thermaltake have a real winner now? Or will the Dragon Orb 3 go the way of the other Orb coolers? Read Chai's definitive review of the Thermaltake Dragon Orb 3 copper cooler to find out!"
PC PowerZone has posted a new article on doing a frameless side window on your case, written by their talented new article writer RIKK.
.
They also have images of the rest of RIKK's PC60 case modz which are simply stunning
.
"The PC speaker is also mounted to this lower fan cage. The cage was reasonably easy to remove. There were two small locks that popped out easily with a flat head screwdriver to keep the bay secure. I'm not really sure why you would need these. The ones on this case went into the "screw cup" we all have at home. Our air movement tally is up to around 195 CFM now and this does not count any air sucked out through the PSU."
.
"With things so close to the edge even the smallest difference in anything can have an impact. Take for instance thermal paste. If some high dollar paste will help get the heat to the heatsink faster and cool down the chip just a hair more, that may be enough to reach the next plateau."
.
PC PowerZone has posted it's latest review of the new Vantec CCK-6027D Socket-A cooler, here's a snip:
"Looking very similar to the OCZ Gladiator (OCZ struck gold with that design!), the first thing that hits you is that the whole cooler unit is highly polished. As with the 6035, the sides and top of the base unit are actually aluminium, anodized to match the copper base."
.
More known for their networking products, D-Link presents an affordable solution to those who would like their MP3s on the go. How does it stack up?
" MP3 players nowadays consist of 3 types, those that play from solid state memory i.e. CompactFlash, those that play from mini harddisks, namely a nifty implementation of notebook harddisks in the player, and also those that play from MP3s burned onto CDs."

Early impressions are good, but as yet I have not heard of anyone getting up to the 50% increase that say is possible :)
As with all releases of the Detonater's nvidia's download site has taken a beating, my own download only got halfway, but luckily I found another source!
win2000/XP: www.rommel.stw.uni-erlangen.de/~snjoamon/WinXP_21.81.exe
win9x/ME: www.rommel.stw.uni-erlangen.de/~snjoamon/Win9x_21.81.exe
I went from 87 fps in q3 1.29 demo four to 106fps, on a GeForce 2 GTS and the early reports from most users are generally good, some even being rather impressive with the 3Dmarks score (a few jumping 300+ points!) They are WHQL drivers and are self installing, also of note is that Nvidia recomend turning off or disabling any virus scanners. I also recommend uninstalling any previous versions. All in all, worth the download.
: I got word from over at Hardware OC, that they got some mirrors up for you:
On our video card drivers page
For win2k/XP
For Win9x/ME
Short one from 8Balls Hardware today, on a generic 256MB pc133 ECC SDRAM memory module, supposedly from Micron.
"Many people take their system's RAM for granted. However, they don't realise that their choice of RAM affects their system's performance and stability. Not all RAM modules are created equal. Today, we take a look at a generic 256MB PC133 SDRAM with ECC (Error Correction Coding) memory module, supposedly Micron branded. SDRAM of this make and supposed brand can be found aplenty right now, which would normally be regarded with a more critical eye, but since it IS ECC SDRAM, its something which isn't that openly available at the moment."

have updated their "How to connect Playstation joypad to PC" guide. Here's a snippet:
"Playstation''s joypad is one of the most known and appreciate controller. Unfortunately there is no PC joypad able to perform like it. Now, thanks to DirectPad driver and this guide, you can enjoy the great PSX controller on your PC maintaining all its characteristics, even DualShock vibrations."

"Just about all PC enthusiasts know heat is the number one enemy when it comes to your CPU. An overheating CPU can cause lock-ups, the ever so dreaded "Blue Screen Of Death", and numerous broken mice (depending on your temper). Of course you can get yourself the best heatsink on the market to help fight this "heated" battle, but sometimes that's just not enough. One item often overlooked is quality case cooling. Of course, the ideal situation would be to get all of the hot air out of your case, and bring in new fresh air from outside. Not everybody has the time nor desire to start cutting their own holes and mounting case fans, so today we are going to look at an easier method of stirring up that stagnant air."

"The CNPS is an acronym of sorts which means Computer Noise Prevention System. After opening the heavy box to unsheathe the sword, I think the acronym BNI/SAR would be more fitting. Batteries Not Included/Some Assembly Required. From the box came a heat sink topped with a fan, two small zip-lock bags that were full of hardware, and finally a very long syringe filled with a Zink based thermal compound."

"EPoX has been coming out with some good boards lately and with this board goin for around $110 is a nice and cheap board. That comes in $60 cheaper than the much more feature packed Dragon. If you don't have any plans for extreme cooling or the onboard goodies of the dragon then this board is a good choice."

GeForce 3 Titanium listed on MS WHQL
Web News|September 4, 2001|9AM EST -
Just got word from Dean at of some news. "A reader sent this to us. The GeForce 3 Titanium is listed on Microsoft WHQL page. I suppose that's some measure proof that it exists. Now the important question, when? There is a screen shot on our front page of the results. You can hit the MS search page at www.mirosoft.com/hcl/ then type in GeForce3 in the search field. This was just too good not to pass along."

"OK folks, you'll never guess what ... I messed up! Yup, for the first time ever I got a mod wrong and boy was I p****d about it! The two top blowholes that I did using the "stealth" method that looked so good - they were too far back and I couldn't get the PSU in because it hit against the rear fan. I was an inch off so I had a major problem! How I got the measurements wrong I do not know but I did!"
