I have a Dell 2005FPW and decided to hook up a second PC to it since I don't have a KVM yet. My main PC is setup on the DVI connection, but the second has to go through the D-Sub. Problem is, when I choose the 1680 resolution, the picture only fills half the screen. I tried moving it to the left (to fill the screen) but it stops with about 2 inches to go. If I choose a lower res (like 1350 or something) is fills the screen but obvious the resolution looks like crap. Any ideas?

Try changing the Hz (in video properties), and also try the auto adjust feature on the monitor.

I have the monitor (two actually) but I have not run into the problem that you're referring to, so those are the best sugjestions I can give.

One other thing to consider is the cable. If it's defective or a piece of junk, that could be your issue. I would try Unknown's suggestion first since it's "free".

What graphics card is the second PC running? Have you tried running the D-Sub via the first PC to determine if its a Monitor issue or something to do with the second PC?

Got to agree there. Maybe the video card in the second PC can't do that resolution.
