I'm having an issue where my monitor sometimes doesn't turn on after I reboot my PC. Everything is fine, then I reboot, I see the shutting Windows down dialog, the screen goes black and then thats it.

I know my PC is booting, because I can hear all the usual activities, but nothing is on on my screen. The power light is on though. If I turn off my screen then turn it back on again, it sometimes turns on. If it doesn't, I just keep power cycling it until it works.

The monitor is a Viewsonic 17" crt, and the video is Intel graphics onboard a 845G motherboard. Any ideas?

Heh, I have this problem with a Dell 20" Widescreen and ATI graphics cards running DVI. Funny thing is it doesn't happen with VGA or Nvidia cards (VGA or DVI). I just power off/on and it's fine. I have no answer for you but will be interested myself in any answers folks might have.

I don't have the same issue as VD (although we have the same monitor), however mine will display "Resolution Not Supported" when I reboot at times, I have to select a different input, let it sens on that one, then back to the DVI input for it to work...

That has actually happened to me as well. It's annoying as hell. I called Dell and they told me never to turn the LCD off. I tried changing DVI cables and still nothing.

Like you, switching to a 7900 GT eliminated this problem.

I had the same problem with my Dell 19". They didn't help much and blamed ATI on the issue.

I suppose you guys could be right, though it's with Intel graphics and a CRT. I don't have an explanation myself, but at least I have a direction. Thanks.
