Looking at the 8500 or 8600

I am going to admit I did not start researching just yet, but I am looking to replace my 6600GT. I know these are the next gen versions of the same range of cards, but will the improvement be a lot over a 7600GT? Reason I ask is I got a co-worker ready to sell his 7600 for $80.

I think $80 is a good deal for a 7600 GT. There are no benefits with direct X 10 now so it's worth skipping i think.

I have to agree that $80 for a 7600GT is pretty tempting. It doesn't help that the 8600GTS has hit the market a little highly priced in comparison with its brethren. Prices will no doubt drop but for right now, there are no real DX10 benefits at this time and an $80 7600GT is a good deal.

Unless you're eyeing some sort of DX10 title, I'm with the group here. An $80 7600 GT is pretty tempting.
