I am looking for a video card that can do 1680x1050 widescreen at decent speed. Something very playable with DX9 games. Before telling me to go get some 8800, at the same time, I am looking for the cheapest card.

I have an ATI X1650XT that runs most games nicely at 1680x1050 (my monitor's native resolution) this is even on Vista... Granted, there is no DX10, but you didn't ask for that. Price looks to be in the $100 range

No DX10 is not much of a downside right now. By the time it is, we'll have new cards to ponder over :)
I agree with Raven, the X1950 Pro's can be picked up pretty cheap right now.

Yeah, if DX10 isn't a priority, the X1950 Pro is faster than the 8600s for the most part.
