Looks like AMD finally caught up sort of with the HD 3870 X2. Still fell a bit short, but it's a bit worrysome that it took two GPUs in a quasi crossfire to do it. At least the price is right.

AMD has been competing on price for their last two releases.
People keep saying: "well it's not winning!" but they should be paying attention to how much it does for how much its selling for.

We'll see what R700 brings to the table, and also how well the 9800 (or whatever nVidia decides to call it) will perform.

I for one am not concerned with AMD anymore, the 3870 was a massive success and is bringing them tons of money. The 3870 X2 will definitely make people think of buying 'Team Red' instead of buying an nVidia based GPU. Whether or not AMD keeps the ball rolling is up to them.

I think US has it right. Doesn't matter how they do it. As long as they do it at a competitive price point.

I think the 3870 X2 helps to win back some mindshare, but it'll be their next-gen stuff that will dictate who is on top.
