Nvidia 3D Glasses? 3D for FREE! And not just for NVIDIA
You will need a few things, besides 3D glasses that is ...
ATI or NVIDIA* ATI users will need to install the IZ3D Drivers (clicky clicky). I'm using the 1.10b2's. You will get a warning during install that there is no 3D Monitor attached, but that's fine as we only want the free Anaglyph. Just install them along side your Graphics card drivers; don't uninstall anything. *The IZ3D drivers are not just for ATI users, although there are apparently more bugs with NVIDIA cards than ATI cards with these drivers. Try them, if they don't work right with your games, you could always try the NVIDIA info below. You'll also need Red/Blue or Red/Cyan glasses. Yellow/Blue also works. Once installed, just go into the IZ3D options and set them as required. NVIDIA Only NVIDIA owners can use NVIDIA's own drivers instead of the IZ3D ones. Grab these Stereoscopic drivers for Vista and install them** ** I've not tested on NVIDIA, but you need to install specific versions of your graphics drivers first, at least 181.22's as they support NVIDIA 3D Vision. Run this reg hack which enables using anaglyph glasses and changes the colours to the same as the Superbowl glasses. You can also edit that reg file*** to alter the colours used from the Superbowl colours to Red/Cyan or whatever you need; just use HEX values to change the colours. Go into the NVIDIA Control Panel and find the Stereo tab, enable Stereoscopy. You can find a list of games supported by the Nvidia drivers here. *** Yellow/Brown "LeftAnaglyphFilter"=dword:ffffff00 "RightAnaglyphFilter"=dword:ff0000ff Red/Blue "LeftAnaglyphFilter"=dword:ffff0000 "RightAnaglyphFilter"=dword:ff0000ff Red/Cyan "LeftAnaglyphFilter"=dword:ffff0000 "RightAnaglyphFilter"=dword:ff00ff00 Remove Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D] Gaming It's a bit of a gimmick, it's a bit of a laugh, but if you have interest and some free time, it's worth doing it at least once. ![]()

Ok, reading the IZ3D Drivers page, I think they should work on both NVIDIA and ATI, it's just the DLP Free part that's ATI only; Anaglyph just states free so ...
All ATI/IZ3D below- Portal - looks pretty good, but since it's the kind of game that's brightly lit, it doesn't look as good with a lack of colours. Still the depth perception works well, but the Xhair's are a little ... off. The IZ3D Laser sights help here. Racedriver: GRID - The Menu's look fantastic and make the backgrounds give more illusion of depth, but playing the game itself, the depth perception does little. It's not that it's not there, but the car obviously sits at the front of the screen (assuming you have the car on screen at all) while the rest of the surrounding track doesn't offer much in the way of depth because it takes little time to 'catch up' to what you were looking at ... if that makes sense. Half Life 2 Episode 2 - Looks brilliant. Like Portal, there are many areas that are brightly lit, but many more that are not. Also, plenty of shadows to darken the game down and distract you from the loss of colouring. I have to admit I got a big smile on my face when the menu first opened with the background being that of the end level with the car to the front, the tree's and folks walking around and the menu options appearing to sit flat against the screen right in front Mirrors Edge - Again, this is a game which is brightly lit, however it's not exactly filled with subtle colouring, more like 4 or 5 colours on screen at once, and lot's of white. It looks pretty good and is quite playable. Left 4 Dead - Probably the best of the games I've tried so far. Being dark you worry little about the loss of colours, but you without a doubt require the 'laser sight' or your accuracy drops considerably. Assassin's Creed - Some ghosting on the main character, but if you look past him to the surroundings, the NPC's, the buildings, then it's certainly a game to try 3D with. Would I seriously play games like it? I might give HL2:EP2 a go. Left 4 Dead; no, I like my headshots too much and the laser sight is just too large to remain as accurate, but if I could get a better Xhair I might. To be honest, I don't think I would seriously play games like it, but as a test/gimmick I'm glad I've given it a go as it's brilliant to see in action :D I have to admit, I'm now more curious to see a 3D Monitor in action. So I gave this a try (Dell Laptop NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT)
Only have tried it on a few things. (Red/Blue settings) Looked very cool on the test 3d option. Black&White 2: It did run in 3D but I found it very pointless, it added nothing to the game. WoW:RotLK v3.0.8.9506: It did add another tab to my video options, but there was no difference with it enabled or disabled. I'm assuming the last patch broke 3D. It does look cool and all but after playing around with it for about 20min I had one nasty headache.
