Light weekend in news, but for those of you who are wondering, we have made a few changes around here the last couple weeks. We switched to a new DB backend now that should make life easier for our editors. Not everything is perfect yet, but over time, we'll hopefully figure things out.

I recently picked up a HD satellite receiver and I am pretty hooked on it. We reviewed an OnAir Solutions USB tuner a few months ago, and said back then that watching TV in HD is the way to go. Problem is for me anyways is my main TV and HTPC setup is in the basement of a 2 floor cottage. The local municipal bylaws don't allow big ole fashioned TV antennas to sit on the roof, and there is only so much my ghetto antenna can do. I already have a satellite subscription, but through some threatening of the carrier; i.e., I'll cancel my service, I got a new HD receiver for a good price.

I put it to good use last night, catching UFC 86 in HD. Sadly, my boy Quinton Jackson got his ass whupped in the main event and lost his belt to TUF champ Forrest Griffin. I only watched the fight once so my initial impression is Rampage got robbed. I had him winning 47-46 (losing round two 10-8), but the judges saw differently. Granted, Forrest killed Rampage with those leg kicks, but I recalled Quinton generally getting the better of the standup. On a brighter note, my homeboy Patrick Coté won his fight with Ricardo Almeida. Honestly, I expected Coté to get subbed in the first round, but he survived the initial onslaught to win a rather dull decision. Now, he'll get to face Anderson Silva (provided he's still champ) to get the chance like many others to hit Silva in the fists with his face.

So thanks for reading on through that rambling and as promised, here's some REAL tech news.
