Final Words
We're nearing the end of the road for the trusy ole Palomino. Future AMD processors will be based off the Thoroughbred core, which is a shrunken 0.13 process. Although there will not be too many design changes, other than the manufacturing process, the "TBred" will allow more scalability, and run cooler. This is exactly what the XP did for the Thunderbird.
As for the XP 2000+, it's a hot performer for sure. Given that the XP 2100+ is AMD's current flagship CPU, the 2000+ should be quite a bargain now.
If you already own a 1800+, or 1900+, there really isn't any point upgrading. You money would be better spen buying a current motherboard, or a video card upgrade.
For overclockers, this is yet another CPU for you to play with. But if you're a "lazy" overclocker such as myself, I'd opt for a slower XP, and boost the FSB on that one.
People who prefer stock speed, which is about 80% of the PC market, and if the 2100+ is too rich for you, then the 2000+ would be a good choice.
Pros: Great performance, decent overclocking potential, good pricing.
Cons: Lack of support for internal thermal diode, fragile construction, overclocking is harder than before.
