Unreal Tournament 2004 - as convoy

We used a high quality configuration at 1024x768 and let the as-convoy demo run.

I think its becoming obvious that the differences between the two kits here is next to nothing from a performance stand point.

Quake III Arena - Demo Four

Using a default 640x480 configuration at lowest settings, we have attempted to remove the load from the graphics card and put the emphasis on the CPU, Memory and Subsystem's performance

Once more, same results.

Final Words

Ultra have released a quality item here. The overall presentation is second to none, I mean, how many competitors go as far as putting the ram in a mahogany jewel box? The ram itself matches the class looks of the box with its gold heatspreaders and simple but pronounced black Ultra logo, producing probably the most attractive overall package from ram you are likely to find.

Looks are of course secondary to performance but here the Ultra doesn't fail you. The Ultra PC4000 is quite capable of delivering in the area's it is needed, be it raw numbers or overclocking potential. Like most PC4000, to get the really high clocks from it, you will need to up the voltage to 2.9v but the ram hasn't flinched running at this (default is 2.7v) voltage once in the week or so I've been using it. It does get a tad warm but this seems to be a common occurrence from ram lately and of course this is what the heatspreaders are for.

Pricing for PC4000 is usually quite high, and while the Ultra PC4000 is no exception, it is however cheaper than many of the bigger names, which only goes to enhance the appeal of this Kit. For $249.99 USD, it is on average $40 cheaper than the competition.

Now while all the information regarding the ram is right there on the stick, I would have liked to have seen some extra documentation that went into details, although to be honest, if you are of a mind to buy this kind of ram in the first place, you will know what you what you are looking at anyway.

I think my comments sum everything up, this Ultra PC4000 1024 Kit is a quality product, and if you are shopping for PC4000 DDR ram then you should definitely consider this.

Pros: Mahogany box packaging, Gold heatspreaders, Great performance, Great overclocking, Great price!

Cons: Perhaps some detailed documentation.

Bottom Line: Quality overclocking DDR is a must for a decent enthusiast system, and you will not be let down by the Ultra PC4000.
