Summary: Better than Generations and Insurrection, but not as good as First Contact. The story is not bad, but it's really a ripoff of ideas from The Wrath of Khan in many ways (if you see it, you'll know what I mean). The villain in this one could have been much more interesting, but he was wasted by a lack of screen time. As usual, the movie is Picard and Data centric, which is good, because they're the only actors who can actually act, imho.
Pros: Good FX, great starship battle
Cons: Too long, too slow, terrible screenplay
Bottom Line: I honestly expected a better movie. I also found the ending somewhat anti-climatic. I hope this isn't the farewell movie, because they really should do one more to make us forget this one.

don't know when we'll get to see it down here but if there's a good battle i'll be happy. never did understand why they cruised around space in a ship bristling with the coolest weapons known to mankind and then talked their way out of everything.

I'm still going to buy the DVD since I have all the others. Thanks for the review.

Hubert, I saw it last night. I think that the character that dies shouldn't have died. The replacement is no match in any way to the character that died.
I did like the idea of that because 2 people are genetically identical, if they had lived each others lives, they would have done the exact same things.
I was dissapointed with the movie, to be honest. I don't think it was a fitting ending to the TNG cast. I especially didn't like the fact that they didn't seem to build on previous movies - ie: Data didn't have the emotion chip... or that the character that was used as bait to get information wasn't even considered to possibly be an evil character from the series
I'm trying not to spoil this for you, guys!
Ed: Sorry Matt, I have edited your post by removing the name of the character since it does giveaway who will die once whoever goes sees it will know who you're talking about early in the movie.

Well, you know what they say. Nobody really "dies" in Star Trek.

I'm pretty sure that crewman#6 who was at the conn when "someone opened the window" died. Unless he can hold his breath...indefinately. Sorry about the spelling, plus trying not to give too much away.
btw: anyone else remember it was "Pop Goes The Weasel"? I drove my g/f nuts whistling that.
I also agree they shouldn't have had the death they had. For the "Last" film I'da killed them all or no one at all. I too felt disapointed, but not so much that I won't buy it on DVD.

All in all it strikes me as a 'Fine! We will do one last movie--hurry up and throw a script together' type thing.
It had a lot of potential to be really kewl but really blew it by doing nothing with the interesting parts.
Also--far be it from me to bitch about a sex scene but DAMN was that pathetic...

I liked the movie. But to me it was more of a tv movie then a big spend $9 to and eat bad popcorn and take the wife out to get her off of my back type of movie. What they really need is some type of nude scenes that is all ways a plus.
