SiSoftware Sandra 2003
Although a synthetic benchmark, it's a popular one, freely available if you wish to make comparison benchmarks. We will be testing the CPU, MMX, and memory speeds.
CPU Arithmetic Benchmark
Stock Speeds
Both the MSI and Chaintech score closely with one another, but the ZENITH does hold the lead regardless.
Overclocked ZENITH
Running at 16x190 nets some very impressive scores. Realistically, I don't think most 1.6As will reach 190FSB, but for Northwood "B" CPUs, getting into the 155-165 range should be a piece of cake.
CPU Multimedia Benchmark
Stock Speeds

A much larger gap this time around. The slight default overclock (2MHz on the FSB) may contribute to the better performance, as well as possible refinements to the i845PE since it was first introduced.
Overclocked ZENITH

Much like the SiSoft CPU, we can see large gains by increasing the FSB speed. I believe this is the first time I've seen the numbers "15 000" in a benchmark other than 3D Mark.
Memory Benchmark
Stock Speeds

Like the SiSoft MMX scores, the ZENITH performs quite a bit better than the Max2-FIR.
Overclocked ZENITH

Not as much of a jump as in the CPU and MMX benchmarks, but we are scraping the 3000 mark.
PC Mark 2002

It's becoming evident now that overall, the ZENITH's performance is ahead of the Max2-FIR's in application benchmarks. In all fairness, the MSI board we looked at was one of the first i845PEs, so Intel may have tweaked the chipset somewhat in the months after.
