Another second place finish here for the 3.73EE, thus pretty much dispelling the myth that Intel rules the roost in applications. On the up side, the 3.73EE totally kills the P4 560 in math computations.

TMPGEnc 2.521

The Pentium 4s really flex their muscle in video encoding, as both the P4 560 and 3.73EE run away with the video file test. For those keeping score, for the application benchmarks, we have the FX-55 and 3.73EE tied at five wins each.

CDex Audio Conversion Wav to MP3

Both $1000 processors outpace the P4 560 in music conversion, but the 3.73EE is the one that finishes on top.

Doom 3 Timedemo Demo1

In the first of our gaming benchmarks, we see the FX-55 take our Doom 3 test. That's all we'll say for now, as we'll summarize a bit more after a few more tests.

Far Cry Demo

UT2004 AS-Convoy

UT2003 Inferno

Unlike the applications tests where things went back and forth, the gaming tests are firmly in AMD's favour. In Intel's defense, compared to the P4 560, the 3.73EE does a lot to bridge the gap and brings Intel much closer to AMD in the gaming area.
