Although a synthetic benchmark, it's a popular one, freely available if you wish to make comparison benchmarks. We will be testing the CPU, MMX and memory speeds of all the platforms.

CPU Arithmetic Benchmark

The scores between both motherboards are close. Be aware that the i845PE is run with the ram at DDR333. The added bandwidth seemed to have helped the overall CPU performance slightly.

CPU Multimedia Benchmark

Again, not much difference, but the 845PE does keep ahead of its older brother. Remember that we allowed the ram to run its rated speed of 333MHz for the CPU tests.

CPU Memory Benchmark

For the memory tests, I clocked down the memory speeds back to DDR266 to see if the "PE" improves upon the "E". At 266MHZ, results were identical. Add another 33MHz (66MHz double pumped), and we can see the memory subsystem gets a noticable boost in performance.

PC Mark 2002

As with the SiSoft scores, our PC Mark scores follow a similar trend. The added memeory speed seemed to help the overall performance of the system. Either that, or both Intel and/or MSI did some tweaking since we last checked.
