Overclocking Results
You're going to have to keep in mind that since we're running at 1:1 CPU and memory, the CPU clock speed is going to be a factor in the differences in scores. We are including these numbers anyways since the overclocks were attainable, and overall system performance shows improvement.
The OCZ EL DDR PC4000 Gold, the FSB was 280MHz.
The TWINX1024-4000, the FSB was 272MHz.
SiSoft Sandra - Pentium 4 @ Max OC, 3-4-4-8

PC Mark 2002 - Pentium 4 @ Max OC, 3-4-4-8

PiFast - Pentium 4 @ Max OC, 3-4-4-8

At 8MHz faster than the TWINX, the Gold makes a strong showing, surpassing the Corsair in each test. What you'll have to keep in mind is that the combination of the faster CPU and memory is key here, which obviously skews the results. However, the point of displaying this is to show what overclocking the OCZ is capable of, and the resulting system performance.
Final Words
This is yet another strong showing on the part of OCZ. The OCZ EL DDR PC4000 Gold Dual Channel Kit certainly ranks right up there as one of the fastest memory kits we've had the opportunity to test. It performs well, overclocks like mad, and has some sweet looking heatspreaders as well.
On the otherhand, unless it is overclocked, performance trails the TWINX in every benchmark we've tested with today, both synthetic and real-world. That being said, it's unlikely you'll notice in day-to-day use, and even though the TWINX was faster at 200FSB, and 250FSB, it wasn't faster by much. However, just to reiterate, the OCZ Gold did manage the highest 1:1 OCs here.
The Gold was very reliable during testing, but like the TWINX, I had major fits with both the ABIT IC7 and IS7 motherboards. Just a FYI, ABIT is still working on resolving the 250FSB memory issue. The ram also didn't like 250FSB on the nForce2, which suggests that for those of you sitting on the AMD side of the fence, you should probably opt for a PC3200 - PC3700 kit.
The Corsair TWINX1024-4000 retails for , which is a fair chunk of change. The 1GB OCZ PC4000 Gold rings in at a ! I'm certain the copper heatspreaders had a little to do with the pricing, and the OCZ Gold is a stronger OCer. Also, the ram is officially rated at 500Mhz, 2.5-4-4-7, which they guarantee.

Pros: Good performance, great overclocker, nice construction quality.
Cons: Expensive.
Bottom Line: I really did like the modules tested today, and should you pick some up, it won't let you down. The Gold does OC very well, and the benchmarks reflect this. It isn't cheap though, so you'll have to decide if the OC abilities past 250FSB is worth it for you. If you got any comments, be sure to hit us up in our forums.
