Nvidia
has always had an edge on OpenGL applications, and Doom 3 proves
to be no different with the 6800 GT sweeping the floor with the
X800XL. At every resolution, the 6800 GT was at least about 20
FPS ahead of the X800XL, if not more. The only resolution where
playability can become a little questionable is at 1600x1200 with
4xAA enabled, as the average is a little low.

The
6800 GT was running at very high fps, and was by no means unplayable,
the X800XL just pulled out ahead.

We
see about the exact opposite result in UT2K4 as we did in Doom
3, with the X800XL pulling way out ahead of the 6800GT. However,
it is important to note that the 6800 GT is still maintaining
very playable framerates in each test, and at each resolution,
even at 1600x1200 with all the details maxed out.
Need
For Speed: Underground 2

As
you can see from the graph above, the X800XL was ahead at all
resolutions. At 1280x960, the 6800 GT presented playable conditions,
and only dropped below 23 FPS a couple of times. While it wasn’t
running great, we were able to play it. Dropping a few settings
down a little helps quite a bit. However, at 1600x1200, you simply
can not play the game on the 6800 GT at all as the framerates
are much too low.
