Unreal Tournament 2004
Almost a staple in benchmarking, UT2K4 makes an appearance. Once again Benchem'All was used for benchmarking the X800 Pro on the three test beds. Unreal Tournament has been known for its large, highly detailed environments. There always seems to be a multitude of object and light sources to show off the abilities of a card. Added to that it is one of the more popular first person shooters. Tests were run on the DM-Rankin, AS-Convoy, and BR-Colossus levels. Shown below are the average frames per second for each system across all three levels. Please note that the P4 has been excluded from the 1600x1200 tests due to time constraints.

As you can see the UT2K4 tests reads more like a CPU benchmark rather than a video card benchmark. This just shows how powerful the X800Pro is. It took running the game at 1600x1200 with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering maxed in order to get the frame rate below 100 on the A64 system. This should be plenty for the avid LAN-gamer. Even on the Athlon 1700+ system frame rates never dropped below 70 at the highest settings.

Image Quality
Multiple image quality tests were run on the ATI X800 Pro. ATI is know for there superior image quality so I went into testing with somewhat high expectations. First test is a 2D test run here at Viperlair. We use a series of paragraphs of text, each with their own font size and color and are judged for readability. A 1600x1200 bitmap is also used for image quality. Test was run on my Samsung 997DF monitor at 1600x1200 at 70Hz.

2D image quality on the X800 Pro was excellent. The 12pt text was fully readable in both colors. Once the size was dropped the text did get harder to read. The black was not too bad, but the white text did start to fade together somewhat. I would have liked to see a sharper edge on the letters. The 1600x1200 bitmap looked awesome, colors were crisp and edges were smooth. I felt that I was actually looking at the object in real life it was that good.

3D image quality was tested using Far Cry. Tests were run on the Athlon 1700+ system at 1600x1200 with AA/AF at the three different levels. Shown below is a cutout from each screen capture.

As you can see the ATI X800 Pro does an awesome job on the 3D image quality. All of the textures are crisp and yet still flow with each other. The colors are awesome and the overall appearance was great.
