While we experienced some drops with 1280, compared to the other two, overall we felt that across all the resolutions, the gameplay was the same. While the run-throughs were consistent, the game AI changes with each replay, and at the one instance where it dropped to 24fps was when all three striders on the map decided to make me their b*tch.

1280 No AA/AF
1280 4AA/8AF

We didn't find much benefit to enabling AntiAliasing for Half-Life 2, as either option results in similar image quality.

Red Apples to Green Apples

Using , we ran both the X850XT-PE and X800XT through some default timedemos. Since we know some of you may not be able to mimic our test runs in FRAPS, these results should give you an indication of the difference in average performance between the two cards.

Doom 3

With AA/AF turned off, both the X800XT and X850XT-PE perform within percentage points of each other. Things change at 4AA/8AF as the X850XT-PE has a clear edge.

Far Cry

AA/AF has less of an impact in Far Cry until we move to 1600x1200.

UT2004

Not much of a difference here, but the X850XT-PE does finish on top.

Half-Life 2

Similar to what we saw in Doom 3, AA/AF enabled hits the X800XT a little harder than the X850XT-PE.
