Tomb Raider Legends is the latest adventure for
the first lady of 3rd person action games. Turning on the next
generation features was pretty unbearable for both cards, but
disabling that while turning everything else on worked very well.
The gameplay was similar between the two and we were unable to
tell the difference.

Both cards do a good job of rendering the graphics
for the game. Some of the smoke affects seemed a bit more realistic
with the 7950GX2 as well as the water effects, but the land
texture looked more real on the X1900XTX. AntiAliasing was smoother
on the NVIDIA hardware though.
Multi-GPU Vs SLI - Half Life 2: Episode 1
The MSI NX7950GX2 is essentially two G71 GPUs
in SLI x8 mode. We don't have a motherboard handy that's based
on the older nForce 4 SLI x8 chipset, so for these tests, the
7900GT cards will not only have a clock speed advantage, but
also a bandwidth advantage. That said, we do expect the results
to be pretty close. The test setup and settings are exactly
the same except now we will be testing the MSI NX7950GX2 and
7900GT (SLI) with 8x AntiAliasing.

Both setups were pretty even in performance. 8xAA
is pretty intense, and there were some obvious slowdowns in some
of the corridor battles. Once we hit the open area, the performance
evened out.

Despite some of the dips at about the 30 second
mark, the true SLI setup was faster overall in that it spiked
over 60fps several times. That said, both setups didn't really
feel any different and since the image quality was identical,
we would be hard pressed to tell you which setup was which without
looking at the cards used.
