Code Creatures
This is a DX8 benchmark that makes good use of vertex and pixel shaders. Given that these cards are DX9 parts, we can get an idea of how it will handle an older video shader specification.
Code Creatures @ 1024

Code Creatures @ 1280

Code Creatures @ 1600

As we can see, with AA/AF off things are pretty much neck and neck. But once we start increasing these settings the FX5900 leaves the 9700 Pro in the dust.
Code Creatures nVidia Specific AntiAliasing
Here, we'll be showing Quincunx, 6XS, and 8xAA results at 1024x768, 1280x1024, and 1600x1200. As mentioned earlier, these results, where applicable, will be presented at the end of each game test.

Our frame rate does takes a bit of hit when both 6XS and 8X AntiAliasing are engaged. Mind you the gap between these two is nothing in comparison to the one between Quincunx and 6XS.

Video cards aren't just for fun and games, and I'm sure some developers and multimedia authors are curious about how it would do in a professional OpenGL environment.

Although these results might not look very impressive, there has been gradual improvement shown since the NV34 core. We can see from these numbers that neither card was really optimized for this kind of workout. Enough synthetics for now, let's see what the FX5900 has to say for itself when it comes to the world of gaming.
