Benchmarking - Overclocking Results
Quake 3 Arena

Here we see some minor improvements, but the overclocking does have a positive influence on the benchmark results.
3D Mark 2001 SE

In 3D Mark, the results from overclocking were more dramatic. We saw approximately a 1000 3D Mark improvement across all resolutions when we pushed the MSI GF4Ti4200-TD8X64 beond spec.
With 4 sample Anti Aliasing enabled, and an overclocked core, the Ti4200 was put to the final stress test. At 4 x Antialiasing, we netted 6043 3D Marks at 1024, 3965 at 1280, and 2493 at 1600. It appears that 2 x AA is playable, but 4 x AA will be a bit choppy, even with the overclocking.
Final Words
Overall, we can see that the card has performed well. As with most of their products, it is apparent that MSI has put a lot of thought into the manufacturing and marketing of this product. The included software bundle and features of this card such as TV-Out make the MSI G4Ti4200-TD8X64 a great value.
While we weren't terribly impressed with the overclockability of the card, the performance blew us away. Coming in at under $200 US, this card is a great value, and you will be hard pressed to get more bang for your buck. I've found the card to be a good performer in all of the benchmarks even though the machine this Ti4200 was tested on only had a 4xAGP bus. I wouldn't be surprised if a few more FPS's could be squeezed out with an 8xAGP bus. It's easy to see why MSI has won awards such as "Best Product Portfolio" - cards such as these with their distinctive red PCBs, and cooling solutions, as well as free dual VGA outputs, as well as VIVO makes this Ti4200 a very attractive card. The extras, such as MSI's Twin-BIOS, as well as hardware temperature monitoring, and the bundled games, all make one realize what an impressive package MSI has put out for the market.
With next-generation cards on the horizon, you may be skeptical about buying this product, but I think it is still a safe bet, since the GeForce FX will likely debut at $399.
Pros: Dual VGA setup, DVI and TV-Out, good stock cooling as well as good performance
Cons: MSI's Overclocking tool is still flakey
Bottom Line: The VTD64 is a great card, and now with its 8X AGP support, 64MB of ram, VIVO, and the bundled software, it has improved greatly. You can find this card for , and it's well worth it.
