A Day at ATI

We spent a day at ATI and talked graphics and more with representatives from multimedia, desktop, integrated and mobile.

Nice article, though what's up with the Dr. Evil references? :P

May as well comment on it here, since it's been asked.

The lack of images are for four reasons...

1) Any pics taken were subject to NDA. Plain and simple.

2) At the time of the visit, the only new thing was the AIW X600 (see #1). Everything else was already "out" so pics were not needed.

3) Most of the facilities were off limits to cameras. I suppose I coulda got mugshots of the employees interviewed, though I'm not sure what the point would be.

4) No products, other than the AIW X600, Dell Inspiron (reviewed all over the place long ago) and USB TV Wonder 2.0 (which has been reviewed here at VL) were demo'd to us. We may have a picture of what I ate for lunch lying around, so perhaps we'll upload that.

maybe perhaps the background of the lunch contains, say, the blueprints for the chip design???

on a more serious note, how'd u get hookups to get into ATI? they don't just let anyone in. whatever u did, good job vipe.

Given Doom 3's release and all of the "benchmarks" which favor Nvidia cards - why didn't you ask (or did you) about any feelings ATi has for the upcoming release of HL2 and possible "make up" in that DirectX game ?

It was asked, but they didn't really say anything other than "wait till HL2".

As for the hookups, we have a good working relationship with them. I was in Toronto anyways, so we arranged the visit.
