nVidia Geforce 7950GT cards hit the stores
The nVidia Geforce 7950GT cards have been released. If they follow the same pattern as the previous nVidia cards, these should be low-cost screamers. Most of the 7900gt cards have a tremendous overhead in OC-ablity. Lets all hope that the 7950GTs follow in their older siblings footsteps.
Here are some specs on three cards just released, They all look like reference designs... $299 at teh 'Egg BFG Tech BFGR7950512GTOCE Geforce 7950GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card >> NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT >> PCI Express® >> Memory 512MB GDDR3 >> Core Clock 565MHz (vs. 550MHz standard) >> Memory Clock 1430MHz (vs. 1400MHz standard) >> RAMDAC Dual 400MHz >> Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0 and lower, OpenGL® 2.0 and lower for Microsoft Windows® >> Connectors 2 Dual-Link DVI-I, HDTV >> 1170 million vertices/sec. >> 45.7GB/second memory bandwidth eVGA 512-P2-N635-AR Geforce 7950GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card Performance NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT 560 MHz GPU 24 Pixel Pipelines 400 MHz RAMDAC Memory 512 MB, 256 bit DDR3 1450 MHz (effective) 46.4 GB/s Memory Bandwidth Interface PCI-E 16X DVI-I, DVI-I, HDTV-7 SLI Capable Resolution & Refresh 240 Hz Max Refresh Rate 2048x1536 x 32bit x85Hz Max Analog 2560x1600 Max Digital Leadtek Winfast PX7950GT TDH 512MB Geforce 7950GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card GPU NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT Graphics Bus PCI Express Memory size 256/512MB DDR3 GPU/Memory clock 550/1400MHz Output Dual Dual-Link DVI, HDTV Memory Interface 256-bit Data bandwidth( GB/sec.) 44.8 Fill Rate(billion texels/sec) 13.2 Vertices/sec (billion) 1.14 Pixels per clock (peak) 24 RAMDACs (MHz) 400 Process Technology 90nm CineFX 4.0 Engine Unified Driver Architecture (UDA) Intellisample 4.0 Technology HCT nView Multi-display Technology Digital Vibrance Control (DVC) 3.0 Microsoft® DirectX®9.0c Optimizations and Support OpenGL® 2.0 Optimizations and Support

Yep, on paper/store shelves the cards look to be the ones to have, and I believe that the performance on them is up there too. That BFG card you mention above is pre-overclocked as well.
Must admit tho, I don't like the name. Fair enough, in recent years graphics cards have had nothing but confusing names, but this one could be very easily confused. The 50 in the name suggests that it is dual gpu, which it isn't. Still, very nice cards at those prices.
