CDex Audio Converion Wav to MP3

was used to convert a 414MB Wav file to a 320kbs MP3.

Lower times are better

A 320kbs conversion is very intensive on CPU/Memory. The KV8 is the fastest between the three boards, though about fifteen seconds slower than a Pentium 2.4C.

We used the same as in previous reviews, extracted a WAV file in VirtualDub, and converted it into a DVD compliant MPEG-2 file at a bitrate of 5000k/Sec. We used a frame size of 720x480 (DVD Std) and 16:9 NTSC. Times are in minutes:seconds, and lower is better.

Lower times are better

Another close one here between the ABIT and the ASUS board, but the KV8 continues to hold its lead for this test.

As we've seen through most of our application benchmarks, not much has changed with the gaming tests, with the KV8 holding its lead. Though the Q3 performance is quite extraordinary, the latter tests are a little more reasonable as they use a modified version of the Q3 engine.
