Doom 3

Both the 7800 GT and All-In-Wonder X1800 XL are very close in Doom 3, well ahead against the older cards. To think that a mere 7 months ago, the X850 PE was retailing at a higher pricepoint than the AIW X1800 XL today.
Doom 3 played very nicely on the All-In-Wonder X1800 XL, and although we're not fans of AA and AF for this game (it's just too far to appreciate it), there are more AA options on the ATI hardware than NVIDIA. Overall, we found IQ to be comparable so either should suit your needs.
Chronicles of Riddick

As we've seen countless times with previous generations of ATI hardware, Riddick heavily favours NVIDIA hardware. The 6800 GT is about 50% faster than the All-In-Wonder X1800 XL, though its numbers are far better than what ATI managed with earlier hardware.
The image quality was very good, but we found the game unplayable at anything more than 1024x768. In fact, if you want to enable any AA, we suggest dropping down to 800x600. 4xAA, 8xAF worked well at 800, and in our opinion, looked better than 1024 without any enhancements.
Unreal Tournament 2004

The All-In-Wonder X1800 XL finishes on top here, demonstrating ATI's strengths in Direct 3D. Really, any mainstream card nowadays should handle this older title without many problems. We'll see if that changes with UT 2007. As you may expect, the game was very playable and looked great at 1600 with 4xAA/16xAF.
Far Cry

Another close one here with the All-In-Wonder X1800 XL finishing on top, just barely. Both the AIW X1800 XL and 7800 GT handled Far Cry with aplomb and in terms of gameplay and image quality, it was tough to tell them apart. I did find the ATI hardware slightly washed out, but only when standing there and staring at the screenshot, which we will get into on the next page.
