Everest Ultimate (Memory Read / Write / Copy)
Although a synthetic benchmark, it's a popular one, freely available if you wish to make comparison benchmarks. We will be testing the memory at stock speeds.
While the separation is not huge, it is enough to make you look twice. Apparently timings matter, and the tighter timings on the Patriot Viper II Sector 5 memory gives it a nice advantage.
Phoronix (FFMPEG)
Video encoding is a taxing chore, both on Memory and Processor, we used the Phoronix Test Suite FFMpeg portion for this test.
Lower scores are better, in this case the Patriot Sector 5's out perform.
Phoronix (Memory Read/Write)
Just as Everex has a memory test subsection, so does the Phoronix Suite. Here we test memory read and write performance within a 32 bit Linux operating environment.
While memory read performance gives a large nod to Patriot, the write portion of this test does not, a slight advantage to Super Talent here.
Phoronix (GnuPG)
GnuPG is an encryption algorithm designed by Werner Koch back in 1999, it is compatible with and along the lines of PGP. This test takes a 2GB file and encrypts it, pretty heavy duty work... Time is in seconds, lower is better.
Another substantial victory for the Patriot Viper II Sector 5 Memory kit.
