With Sandybridge systems picking up sales momentum, many enthusiast users are considering a complete upgrade. There are a wide variety of manufacturers selling quality DDR3 memory kits and with current pricing, there really is no better time to buy. Purchasing a 4GB kit is certainly the cheapest option, but if you have greater multitasking demands and want peace of mind for the future then a 8GB kit could be a wise choice.
I’m sure many of you remember AMD’s 5800 series of video cards, they were the first family of video cards in the world to support the advanced graphical features of DirectX 11. It has been quite some time since their original introduction and Sapphire has decided to relaunch the series with the HD 5850 Xtreme and the HD 5830 Xtreme. Today we will be taking a look at the HD 5830 Xtreme which features 1120 stream processors, 56 texture units, an 800 MHz core clock and 1GB of DDR5 memory. Let’s check it out!
MSI’s Radeon HD 6970 Lightning is the company’s new flagship single-GPU card for AMD. It offers plenty of overclocking features like triple voltage software control, voltage measurement points, a powerful cooling solution and increased clock speeds out of the box. What is even better is that those features are available at a small price premium of only $10 over the AMD reference design.

It is a fact that most of us PC hardware enthusiasts are so concerned with what is happening at the high end of the graphics card market, that lower end cards like the GTX550 get forgotten among the more outrageously powerful, and sometimes outrageously expensive, cards out there. However, the lower end cards are what sell
the best to the mainstream users who want to game without spending ?200 on a top end card, but are clever enough not to opt for a console! More importantly though, the lower power found in these cards give manufacturers such as GIGABYTE the ability to do some amazing things with them, such as silent cooling and high overclocks. This is exactly what a buyer is looking for and appears to be exactly what GIGABYTE is
offering- we will see how it does this later on.

An SSD arrived earlier today that I thought all might like to read about. A quick change of plans to the negative of a few and here we are taking pictures and benchmarking the new OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G 120GB SSD. Having just completed testing, OWC gets a big thumbs up for being only the second manufacturer to release an SSD with SandForces new SF-2000 series SATA 3 processor as well as ensuring the ’6G’ is of the quality that we have come to appreciate.
