All-In-Wonder HD in Action

Before we really go any further, from a gaming perspective, this card is lacking in a big way. We fired up a few games and simply put, even at 1024x768, Call of Duty 4 was near unplayable. In the AIW HD's defense, the card is an improvement over most integrated solutions, but if gaming is something you're going to have in mind, you may want to consider a discreet graphics card with either this card or a standalone tuner in tow.

On that note, the AIW HD does run Vista's Aero interface perfectly fine and we have absolutely no complaints on the 2D front. We did not test video quality with analog video captures, but we did do several with over the air HD. OTA HD coverage varies depending where you are, so you'll need to do some research for your area. Americans will have much better coverage than Canadians, but this is improving for those living North of the border.

The first shot is from ATI's Catalyst Media Center.

By this time, we're hoping most of our readers can appreciate HD, but if you're one who has not really witnessed it, you need to really check it out.

The next two shots are from Vista's Media Center.

Despite compressing the images above, it's pretty obvious that high definition provides a much cleaner and sharper image. Keep in mind that HDTV eats up a lot of hard drive space.
